Don’t be intimidated by being confused. Especially as an engineering intern, the job can be very hard and confusing sometimes but if you ask questions you will find the solution.

I liked how much I was exposed to and was tasked with several projects that I learned a lot from.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had taken a bit of time off. I was given opportunities to take time off but I went to work anyways.

Advice

Make yourself familiar to Microsoft office you will use it often. Also be respectful to your boss it goes a long way to getting you hired in the future.

What I liked

My boss took me under her wing and introduced me to people that had jobs that more aligned with my interests and major. My boss tried to provide work that was more relevant to what I was interested in.

What I wish was different

There wasn't much to do other than spreadsheet modeling, I wish I had had a chance to create models like in my economics classes or to do research on something I was passionate about.

Advice

Tell your boss what work and subjects you are interested and try to develop your relationships with the people around you. They may be willing to help you out in the future or plug your name at a social event.

What I liked

I've loved the opportunity to work at a compressor station and see what work is being done to maintain the reliability and integrity of natural gas compression and distribution systems. The mix of office and field work I was able to complete was pleasant as well.

Nothing really.

Advice

Keep trying! I applied for this experience at the end of each term since my freshman year, and I didn't get interviewed until I finished my junior year.

Learning how power is generated. How a big company is ran. Understanding the many different sides of the company. Understanding the work that goes in when there are power outages. Learning about time management and project Management. Learning how to lead a team and a project.
