The environment in the workplaces was very relaxed. The culture and positivity around you makes it easier to adapt to the workload.
What I wish was different
Management and coworkers at times can be too playful and distracting.
Advice
Take advice from the supervisors and mentors next to you. Always seek out knowledge and make an effort to try your best to understand the work before instantly going to ask questions

Engineering Co-op
January 2022 • Garfield Heights, OH
What I liked
What I like most about GPD Group is the people and the environment. There's so many helping hands which makes me feel supported and I always learn something new. I also will have the experience to not only work on the site development team but go to other teams in future work terms. They make sure you start with a good foundation with the software which helps you grow with the company. It really feels like they want you as a full part of their team.
What I wish was different
There's not much I would want to change with my co-op at GPD. If you ever have a request or an issue, they take it into account and try to make it work. I asked to go out into the field and although not much is happening in construction at this time of year, one of my coworkers went out of her way to help. She showed me a current small job site and she showed me what to look for during a site visit for a potential job. GPD is extremely accommodating and is truly looking for the growth of their co-op students
Advice
If I could give a piece of advice, it would be to be as open as possible about what you're looking to learn and experience during your co-op. If you share details about what you're looking to learn, your employer can help you achieve that. It's a two-way learning experience of you trying to figure out what you want to do with your degree and them trying to learn if you would be the right fit for the team. Being honest about how you're feeling is the best way to get the most out of your experience. GPD and those who work there will listen to all opinions and try to be better and grow with you.
