Bakery Product Developer/Bakery Technologist Co-op

Job Summary 

The Bakery Technologist Process Engineer Co-op is responsible for providing technical support to bakeries from an R&D standpoint on a wide range of subjects, including equipment testing, product quality improvement, production efficiency, product formulation and design etc. Additional tasks may include product development/improvement, ingredient evaluation and identifying cost-saving opportunities. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Work alongside the Research & Development Team on multiple projects related to new product development, product and process improvement and alternative raw material testing

• Support troubleshooting in facilities and work with manufacturing teams to optimize process and formula 

• Assist in lab tests, sample production, and plant trials 

• Collect samples and data from lab and plant trials 

• Become familiar with process and equipment capability 

• Conduct analytical tests on raw materials (moisture, water activity, pH, etc.) when required 

• Work closely with Product Development, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing to support new product launches as well as the development/improvement of existing products 

Key Qualifications 

• You are PASSIONATE about food! 

• Post-secondary education in Food Science, Chemistry, Food Engineering, or related science program 

• Strong analytical skills 

• Sound knowledge of MS Office 

• Clear communication skills along with a positive and eager to learn attitude
