Position Title: Program Development and Research Internship
Reports to: Executive Director, and Shelter Monitor as needed
Hours: minimum 5 hrs. a week, flexible within 5pm – 11pm all days
Duration: as needed for course credit, 6 month maximum
Location: 433 W Market Street, Tiffin, OH 44883

Position Summary:
The Program Development and Research Internship at the Transformation Life Center involves direct service with clients who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Interns may choose to focus on event planning/program development, research, or a combination of both. Research duties include supporting programs through data collection, data entry, researching available resources, examining other shelter practices, and investigating services. Interns may also assist with miscellaneous office tasks and projects. Programming tasks include supporting event planning, designing engaging activities for clients, helping clients find contacts for their educational needs, and building collaborations with community resources.
Responsibilities
- Contacting community partners to assist in data collection and/or programming.
- Meeting with clients to understand their needs and learning ways to support them through shadowing opportunities.
- Filling out a log at the end of each shift noting any happenings
- Data entry, report filing, special projects, research and other program support.
Requirements:
Applicants should have active listening skills, empathy and ability to handle sensitive client information. They must also have conflict resolution skills and be able to work well independently. They should be able to learn new skills by attending training provided by us. Applicants must have reliable transportation to and from the working location. They must also be interested in working with a low-income, incarcerated population, community action agency, human services, or other applicable social work or related field.
