Civil Engineering Internship (Water Resources)

This position is for a civil engineering internship in the field of water resources engineering. The candidate would assist AWR’s engineers with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and design in support of a variety of water resources engineering projects. Work will be primarily in the office, focused on design and planning projects. Examples of current types of projects that the candidate may assist with include stormwater master planning, stormwater infrastructure design, surface flood mapping, aquatic organism passage design, and Green Infrastructure performance evaluations. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Proficient with MS Excel
  • Thorough computer skills using a Windows operating system
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including oral and written communication
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to learn
  • Must be physically able to complete site visits to remote locations, perform moderate hiking, sit at a desk as part of a daily routine, and move objects up to 30 pounds.

Bonus Skills (Not required, but helpful)

  • Ability to use ArcGIS
  • Experience/ability reading and understanding a civil engineering plan set
