CAE Engineer

Lead/Support investigation of moderately complex quality problems/change point for internal and external customers through metallurgical evaluation including testing, failure analysis, material confirmation or other material related items.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
List the key accountabilities that must be carried out to fulfil the job purpose. % of time:

• Using engineering analysis and data collection to assure material conformance to spec and causes of product failure 10%
• Manage/participate in investigations for quality problems to determine responsibility, root cause and countermeasure through failure analysis of engine components and assemblies 40%
• Summarization and presentation of analysis results to all levels of organization and other divisions 15%
• Ability to communicate with customers and outside departments, and other regions 10%
• Coordinate and lead plant wide projects to identify Q concerns and establish team and set plan to investigate Q concerns 10%
• Support/Advise/Mentor/Lead other associates on problem analysis projects 5%
• Establish and carry out analysis plans on powertrain problems, by utilizing engineering theory/experience and interfacing with functional experts and other department representatives for coordination of schedules and activities 5%
• Evaluate functional impact of manufacturing process and/or specification variations 5%

Minimum Educational Qualifications

§ Bachelors Degree Material Science, Metallurgical, or Welding Engineering
Minimum Experience:
§ 3 years

Other Job-Specific Skills:
§Experience in Quality, Manufacturing or Material Analysis (heat treat, casting, welding, failure analysis or related lab environment)

§ Generate technical reports that convey the evaluated results/conclusions of testing and analysis
§ Apply engineering theory to solve complex problems
§ Structured root cause problem analysis for process and/or product related concerns
§ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
§ Ability to establish plans for and lead the analysis of functional concerns with powertrains
§ Verbally present test and analysis results clearly and concisely

§ Ability to lead / train other associates on problem solving activities
