Weld Engineer
Primary Objectives
- To Design, improve, and install integrated systems in the introduction of new products to the manufacturing environment. Directly impact all aspects of safety, quality, delivery, cost, and innovation. To provide expertise on a variety of complex manufacturing issues to increase the capabilities to produce products.
Essential Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned and changed as needed)
- Supervise Weld Technicians for PM’s as well as support assignments
- Spec out welding equipment and tooling for new and existing product
- Attend run-offs for approving weld equipment and tooling
- Develop and establish weld parameters for new or existing equipment
- Troubleshoot welding problems and provide solutions accordingly
- Work to identify cost savings
- Communicate safe policies for job performance
- Schedule and attend necessary company meetings
- Work with other departments to solve problems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Weld Engineering or related field
- Extensive experience in weld assembly area of automotive support industry
- Supervisory experience
- Experience with quality and tooling related issues
- Knowledge of SPC and CMM data
- Tradesman certification based on experience
- Mechanical / Electronic studies or technical training
- Knowledge of resistance welding and robotics
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Computer skills
