Job Description: METSS Corporation is seeking qualified candidates to fill entry or intermediate level research positions. The researcher will conduct hands-on research and development work under the direction of experienced Principal Investigators. METSS conducts a wide variety of research, ranging from the development of environmentally friendly processes and advanced materials (structural materials, barrier materials, and energetic materials, as well as high-performance fluids and lubricants) to basic synthesis and microbiology work. The ever-changing research landscape gives employees the opportunity to develop skills in a variety of research areas, and the small-business environment provides the flexibility to take on new roles as dictated by their interests and experience.

Duties:

  • Execute work under the direction of the project’s Principal Investigator (PI), Project Manager (PM), or Task Leader
  • Follow requirements for all laboratory activities, including proper documentation, staff health and safety, laboratory/field records, sample custody/handling, and electronic data
  • Prepare written descriptions of laboratory/field methods performed, data collected, and significance of results.
  • Work efficiently on multiple projects
  • Actively look for opportunities to learn new skills

Desired Technical Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of chemistry and/or materials science/engineering
  • Willingness to learn or be familiar with using, maintaining, and cleaning laboratory equipment
  • Ability to follow experimental protocols
  • Interpersonal skills to work with interdisciplinary teams

Desired Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in the areas of physical science (chemistry, polymer science, etc.) and/or engineering, particularly chemical (or similar)

Citizenship:  Applicants must be United States citizens and maintain a valid driver’s license.
