Entry Level Wastewater Process Engineer

Overview

Carollo Engineers is an internationally recognized environmental engineering firm that specializes in the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater facilities. We are seeking a Wastewater Process Engineer to assist with projects related to municipal water and wastewater treatment plants, including but not limited to major treatment plant expansions, regional water quality studies, and critical water reuse projects that will create sustainable and resilient water supplies for the world.

Responsibilities 

  • Perform wastewater process modeling, designs, conceptual designs, facility layouts and prepare reports, plans, and specifications under direction of principle engineers and technologists
  • Independently evaluate and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making adaptations and modifications
  • Evaluate and analyze numerous treatment technologies, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with basic and complex features
  • Project engineering for wastewater treatment and collection systems
  • Testing materials and processes
  • Report and technical memoranda writing
  • Wastewater process modeling and studies
  • Research investigations and piloting

Qualifications 

  • Master's Degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering 
  • Minimum academic requirements include coursework in physical, chemical, and biological processes; hydraulics; and principles of water and wastewater treatment plant and infrastructure design
  • 0 to 4 years of directly-relevant experience in water and wastewater engineering
  • Engineer-in-Training Certification
  • Application of engineering principles including critical thinking, analysis, and innovative techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Highly motivated, articulate, and self-starting
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Demonstrated ability in biological, physical, chemical process modeling, hydraulics, and principals of wastewater treatment plant design
  • Familiar with codes and regulations related to water pollution control
  • 5-10 years of wastewater process and design experience in the field of environmental engineering with an emphasis in hydraulics, physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes, and treatment plant design

Compensation Range 

$75,000 to $95,000 annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
