Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary: We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in either Redmond, WA, San Jose, CA or the D.C. area. Learn to evaluate mechanical systems through a data lens. Harvest, aggregate, normalize and analyze data while focusing on optimization, efficiency, maintainability, decarbonization and sustainability. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, curious, driven, technical, a problem solver and a life-long learner. All new engineers will participate in our six month training program set to start July 2024.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000

Hybrid Position

Responsibilities may include:

  • Perform data gathering, interpretation and visualization to analyze HVAC system operations and performance data using SQL
  • BMS Controls experience: reviewing, writing, evaluating sequence of operations
  • Develop naming convention standards for data aggregation efforts.
  • Develop fault detection and diagnostics expressions for various HVAC equipment types
  • Develop fault cost/savings calculations for fault priority ranking
  • Apply advanced visualization approaches to data to inform owners and operators of problems and opportunities using PowerBI, Tableau or Google Plex
  • Mechanical engineering design to put context to the data
  • Develop and understand: flow diagrams, plans, details, equipment schedules, and calculations.
  • Develop basis of design documents including high level system diagrams and equipment selection
  • Peer review for new construction and existing systems
  • Smart building design
  • Code compliance
  • Perform facility condition assessments, troubleshooting and root cause analysis to identify energy conservation measure opportunities for system optimization, operation and efficiency

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical training and/or experience
  • 0-2 years of experience in HVAC Engineering, Commissioning Engineering and/or Data Analytics in the built environment
  • BMS and controls experience a plus
  • Excellent understanding of Mechanical Engineering Fundamentals
  • Ability to interact effectively with others in a team environment
  • Flexibility to manage multiple tasks and meet scheduled deadlines
  • Professional attitude and commitment to high quality work
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Driven self-starter and strong design to succeed
  • Proficient in Excel (pivot charts, data normalization, basic calculations, charts/graphs)
  • Familiar and/or a proficiency in: PowerBI, SQL, DBA, Plex; preferred

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time exempt position. Salary is negotiable and dependent on experience and location.
