Ackenheil is seeking a full-time Geotechnical Engineer Level 1 to join our Pittsburgh office. Ideal candidates will have geotechnical experience including engineering analysis, investigations, report preparation, field exploration and laboratory analysis, with background in soil mechanics.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform field assignments including site reconnaissance, test boring inspection, and construction inspection.
- Provide assistance with developing geotechnical laboratory testing programs.
- Assist with field and laboratory testing of construction materials (soil, concrete, asphalt).
- Evaluate ground conditions and understand their impact on design and construction.
- Perform geotechnical analysis for design and reporting
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Regularly communicate with Ackenheil Staff, Clients, and Contractors.
- Must have valid driver’s license &and a reliable vehicle (mileage reimbursement) for use on job sites.
- Physical ability to perform field and laboratory testing (frequently lift up to 50 pounds).
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed with additional compensation.
- Ability to work outside in all types of weather in a busy construction environment.
- Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner.
Education Requirements:
- Required: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical specialty
Preferred Certifications:
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certification
- Experience:
- 0-5 years’ experience
