Entry level Electrical Designer/Engineer

In its fourth decade of service, McKinley Architecture and Engineering is a full-service architectural and engineering firm that designs educational, commercial/retail, industrial, governmental, and institutional buildings.

McKinley Architecture and Engineering is growing and in need of a full-time Electrical Engineer to join our team. McKinley Architecture and Engineering is seeking qualified individuals that will be able to acclimate quickly and "hit the ground running". McKinley Architecture and Engineering has 4 offices, Wheeling, WV - Wexford, PA, Charleston, WV and our most recent office opened in 2023 Martinsburg, WV. While this is NOT a remote job, a certain amount of remote work is possible based on employer needs and employee experience level.

Job Description Summary: The Electrical Engineer will coordinate with the engineering and architectural staff, work directly with clients, as well as develop and design projects in conformance with engineering professional ethics and standards.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
  • Experience/proficiency in design skills in Autodesk products and other computer-aided design software
  • 10+ years of experience in designing electrical systems & lighting for buildings and building sites (preferred) (preferred)
  • A strong technical background in a variety of different building materials
  • Able to ideate quickly through verbal communication, hand sketches and 3D models

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interact and communicate effectively with clients, design team members, project consultants and contractors
  • Work closely with design and technical teams, including Project Manager, Project Engineers, and Project
  • Architects, while supporting or leading the development of design deliverables
  • Assist in the development of overall project goals, design criteria, project budgets, and schedule
  • requirements
  • Design lighting, electrical systems and electrical services for buildings
  • Understand and apply the requirements of building codes and industry standards
  • Perform equipment selections, author equipment and product specifications
  • Provide consulting services, including field investigations, short circuit coordination studies, arc-flash hazard analysis, gap analysis, prepare technical and feasibility reports
  • Establish design standards, specifications and criteria for projects
  • Assume responsible charge for the overall economic well-being of the assigned projects
  • Provide a high level of technical leadership
  • Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor and/or any other member of the administration
