Electrical Engineer Intern

Electrical Engineer Intern for MEP Design Firm located in Germantown, MD. 

Preferred Start Date: Summer 2024. Start and End Dates listed in the posting are estimates and are flexible based on candidate availability.

*Due to the sensitive nature of the projects we work on at CFR, we can only accept applicants that are US Citizens. 

Candidate responsibilities would include: 

-Design of electrical power distribution systems for new construction and renovation projects. Projects include both medium and low voltage power distribution. Projects involve the design of service entrance switchgear and switchboards, transformers, emergency generators and paralleling systems, uninterruptible power systems, variable frequency drive applications and harmonics mitigation, electric car charging stations, photo-voltaic system integration, and specialized equipment for laboratories and medical facilities. 

-Design modern lighting systems for efficient and aesthetically pleasing facilities. 

-Perform lighting calculations with software such as Agi32 and Visual. 

-Analysis of power system load characteristics taken from field data to provide recommendations for improving power systems reliability and determining existing demand loads. 

-Design of fire alarm systems. 

-Work with senior engineers and architects to create construction documents. 

-Coordinate with other trades for the successful construction of projects. 

-Perform 3D modeling with Revit and 2D drafting with AutoCAD to create construction documents. 

-Visit project sites throughout the design and construction processes to assess existing facilities and ongoing construction.
