Entry Level Water Resource Engineer

Overview

Carollo Engineers is an internationally recognized environmental engineering firm that specializes in the planning, design, and construction of water, stormwater, and wastewater facilities. We are seeking an Entry Level Water Resource Engineer to help deliver water supply planning and reuse projects in the western US.  You will perform work on integrated water supply plans, one water plans and programs, stormwater management, and non-porable and potable water reuse studies. This will include calculations and analyses of water supplies and demands, conducting alternatives analyses, and documenting results.  Strong analytical and communication skills are a must.

As part of our team, you will work on projects related to municipal water sources and water and wastewater treatment plants, including but not limited to regional and local water supply evaluations, regional water quality studies, and critical water reuse projects that will create sustainable and resilient water supplies for the world.

Responsibilities 

  • Application of hydraulic and hydrologic modeling systems in urban settings to support the planning and design of related infrastructure, including: pipelines, open channels, pump stations, channel stabilization techniques, storage and treatment facilities, and other conveyance measures
  • Leadership in and direction of hydraulic and hydrologic calculations, report writing and other activities needed to support the planning and design of stormwater management facilities
  • Collaboration with other engineering disciplines, designers, and scientists, among others, who support specific assignments
  • Leadership in marketing and branding a business line, both internally and externally
  • Some travel may be required

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Environmental, or Agricultural Engineering or related engineering field
  • 0-4 years of experience relating to stormwater and water resources projects
  • Certified as a Engineer in Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Expertise in the planning and design of solutions for urban stormwater management challenges, related to both quantity and quality. Among other tools, experienced with the HEC suite of software, including two-dimensional applications; FLO-2D; XPSWMM; CivilStorm; and PondPak
  • Experience with the selection and optimization of multi-benefit urban storm water projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to develop options and recommendations to solve technical problems
  • Ability to present to groups and communicate effectively with clients and project team
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Familiarity with computer applications including ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and water and sewer hydraulic calculations/modeling software (WaterGEMS, InfoWater, InfoWorks ICM, InfoSWMM)

Compensation

$65,000 to $72,000 annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
