Structural Engineering Intern - Foxborough, MA

Our 8-week internship is an opportunity to gain valuable experience, expand your skills, and make meaningful contributions to our team. Our interns will work alongside our dynamic team to gain practical experience and contribute to exciting projects. This internship offers hands-on learning opportunities under the guidance of experienced engineers. Our interns will collaborate with our team, apply theoretical knowledge of real work challenges, and develop valuable technical skills. Position Summary:

Our Structural Engineering intern's primary responsibility is the design and documentation of construction projects. In this fast-paced environment, interns must be able to prioritize tasks and work within deadlines, while upholding a standard of excellence and attention to detail. Interns will collaborate with different teammates, architects and builders to design projects of all types, sizes, and levels of difficulty. Designing some of the tallest buildings in the world, DeSimone is proud to work side by side with our interns during this 8-week opportunity, to give them the exposure they need to progress in their future careers.

Qualifications (Minimum and Desired):

  • High School Diploma
  • Must be enrolled in a Bachelors Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering - Must be a rising Senior
  • Must have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, materials, and procedures
  • Must have knowledge of ETABS, SAFE, AutoCAD and PCA software and all internal engineering design tools
  • Possess strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Able to perform various tasks within the project team environment.
  • Be able to take initiative in solving engineering problems is expected.
  • Must be detail oriented with strong people and team skills
  • Have a sense of urgency and initiative essential for success

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Approaches problems with the aid of established internal guidelines and approved design programs.
  • Familiar with basic model design codes.
  • Clearly presents design results in graphic form to Supervisor.
  • Effectively communicates information and asks well-structured questions.
  • Writes clear summaries and memos of own work
  • Works with scope items and accurately charges own labor to proper project numbers.
  • Focused on project aspects of position.
  • Maintains positive and constructive attitude.

Work environment: Office setting - this position is in the office 5 days a week (Monday-Friday) 9am-6pm.
