ATS is currently looking for qualified candidates for a Welding Engineering Internship position. Intern will be responsible for ensuring that small projects or sub-scopes of large projects are executed in accordance with defined obligations meeting technical and quality contract deliverables, and for applying safety requirements per ATS Safety Procedures, within planned budget and schedule constraints. 



  • Current Enrollment in BS Degree in Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology program with experience related to welding acceptable.
  • Have a working knowledge with most Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, Adobe, etc)
  • Be a self-starter, able to complete tasks with guidance/supervision.
  • Be detail oriented, organized, and able to multi-task.
  • Interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written, in the English language
  • Demonstrate ability to work as a TEAM player directly with engineers, project managers & coordinators and shop personnel


RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of Summer Projects - Reports directly to Engineering Manager):

  • Aid in development of solid-state welding project for new technology introduction to market
    • Carbon/Low Alloy/Stainless Steels
  • Aid in development of wire fed fiber LASER welding project for early welding procedure qualifications
    • Aluminum, Titanium, Carbon/Low Alloy/Stainless Steels
      • Material surface cleaning pre- & post- welding
      • Lap/fillet & butt welds on thin wall plate/tubing
      • Corrosion resistant and Hardfacing weld overlays plate/pipe/forgings
  • Inclusion/exposure with company welding engineers on active projects
    • Technical project planning & execution
    • Assignment of small project tasks
    • Visits with customers – transportation provided by company employee when applicable
