Field Service Technician/Engineer

Position Summary:

Does the idea of commissioning and troubleshooting industrial sized burners for the steel and aluminum industries excite you? If so, we have just the opportunity for you as a Field Service Technician/Engineer. The Field Service Technician/Engineer will assist in start-ups, trouble shooting, and optimization of combustion services supplied by Bloom Engineering Company.


Primary Responsibilities:
• Commissioning, troubleshooting, and regular maintenance of new, existing, and retrofitted industrial combustion systems.
• Independently troubleshoot and conduct a root cause analysis for failed industrial heating systems.
• Review programming in PID loops in single and multi-loop controllers.
• Interface with industrial heating equipment operators, engineers, and managers.
• Utilization of electronic measuring equipment, such as multi-meters, pressure/flow transmitters, and combustion analyzers to interpret their data.
• Collaborate with other Service Technicians & Corporate managers to improve services offered.
• Complete timesheets, reporting and required paperwork upon completion of each job assignment.
• Travel of up to 80% with the duration of a few days to two weeks at a time. Travel is primarily domestic but international travel may be required on occasion.


Desired Qualifications/characteristics:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electrical, or instrumentation.
• For candidates not local to Pittsburgh, PA, you must be willing to visit the Pittsburgh, PA for extended periods to complete training. 
• Have a basic understanding or a strong desire to learn about industrial heating systems and mechanical and electrical measuring tools.
• The ability to read and comprehend technical information for components used in industrial heating processes.
• Have a basic understanding of mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Basic math skills including algebra are required.
• Knowledgeable in, or able to learn how to calibrate, use, extract, and analyze data from various mechanical and electrical instruments.
• General knowledge of safety requirements in an industrial environment.
• Proficient ability to use Microsoft Office products.
