Weld Engineer

​​​​​​Weld Engineer - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Euclid, Ohio  

To provide general weld engineering support to the manufacturing floor to aid work flow and maintain quality requirements for welding and brazing operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support for production joining operations and employee training and qualifications.
  • Develop, qualify, prepare, and maintain welding/brazing procedures in accordance with the applicable standards.
  • Monitor joining operations in the manufacturing area to support established schedules while assuring procedure compliance.
  • Provide technical support to hourly weld personnel regarding weld functions (not direct supervision).
  • Investigate and recommend new welding and brazing techniques/equipment/process improvements.
  • Provide technical assistance regarding standard and repair routings.
  • Interface with Quality Assurance, Process Engineering, Product Engineering and other functional departments to support the resolution of hardware joining problems.
  • Interface with the Materials Laboratory to support testing of qualification test assemblies.
  • Other weld engineering tasks and responsibilities as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Welding Engineering or Weld Engineering Technology.
    • B.S. in Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering with prior experience in a Weld Engineer function or equivalent weld/braze experience will also be considered.
  • Entry level to Senior candidates will be considered, salary commensurate with experience.
  • Experience in manual and automated GTA welding of stainless and high nickel base alloys materials preferred.
  • Experience in torch brazing copper preferred.
  • Working knowledge of military welding standards such as NAVSEA 250-1500-1 and/or MIL-STD-278 preferred.
  • Strong verbal and technical writing skills.
  • Established leadership ability and skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.

Additional PTO - 26 Fridays off based on 9/80 work scheduled and closed between Christmas and New Year's Day

 

**The base salary range for this position in <<State>> at the start of employment is expected to be between $74,000 and $99,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
