This is a very hands-on scouting internship; Interns will have a wide array of duties, including but not limited to:
- Learning how to stand count and growth stage various crops
- Learning how to identify weeds, insects, and diseases
- Learning how to use applications that are vital to our operation (i.e., Climate FieldView, John Deere Operations Center, ScoutPro, etc.)
- Learning how to operate a drone and interpret the collected images/videos
- Pulling soil and tissue samples
- Helping the agronomy team make operational decisions based on collected data
- Other on-farm duties as assigned
Through an internship at Peterson Farms, interns will gain real-world experience that will be invaluable for future agriculture careers, whether they be on-farm, retail, or research focused.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Interns will be required to attend various industry and university meetings to further their understanding of agronomic practices commonly utilized on ours and other farms. Preferred candidates would be a junior or senior pursuing a degree in: Agronomy, Ag Business, Ag Engineering, Crop Science, or other related agricultural majors.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
No previous experience is required, though preferred candidates would have basic production agriculture experience, whether it be through prior internships or on-farm experience. Good communication skills are a must. Most of all, candidates need to have a drive to learn!
