Assembler and Material Handler

POSITION: Assembler and Material Handler

DEPARTMENT: McKercher Production

REPORTS TO: Production Unit Manager

STATUS: Part-time

Summary of Responsibilities:

Responsible for the assembly of products in various jobs, preparation for shipping, quality control, packaging, set up and break down of workstations. Cleaning of classrooms and production areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assemble parts for any job that requires completion for the production unit.
  2. Perform all necessary quality checks for products that have been completed during assembly.
  3. Perform re-packing of car parts into totes for production unit.
  4. Perform packaging of completed assembly products.
  5. Set up and break down workstations to ensure readiness for the next day of assembly.
  6. Help Production Unit Manager complete 25-minute time studies as needed.
  7. Will be required to complete Forklift training and adhere to safety requirements

If assigned to banding, skidding and product inventory:

  1. Perform banding, skidding, and product inventory checks on any job in the warehouse.

If assigned to janitorial and grounds maintenance:

  1. Perform janitorial duties as requested by Production Unit Manager.
  2. Perform grounds maintenance upon request of Production Unit Manager.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Other assembly, production and packaging duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.   1. Must have oral and written communication skills sufficient to track assembly production numbers daily.
  2. Must have human relation skills sufficient to interact effectively with a wide range of people.
  3. Excellent manual dexterity in order to assemble small parts.

Work Conditions

  1. Must be able to tolerate hot temperatures in the summer and cold temperatures in the winter.

Physical Requirements

  1. Must be able to tolerate prolonged sitting and standing
  2. Must possess manual dexterity in both hands in order to assemble small parts
  3. Must be able to carry, reach and lift up to 50 pounds.

PAY RANGE: Minimum - $10.10, Midpoint - $12.63, and Maximum - $15.16
