Accountant
POSITION TITLE: Accountant - Grants
DEPARTMENT: Administration-Finance
REPORTS TO: Controller
CLASSIFICATION: Regular, Full-time
POSITION SUMMARY
The Grant Accountant’s responsibilities are integral to the financial operations, ensuring accuracy in grant billing and compliance with funders’ requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform billing and invoicing for all grant awards; understand grant terms
- Prepare customer invoices (earned income)
- Verify all weekly contribution deposit reports and verify all new foundation grant and award notices
- Prepare customer invoices and tracking of payments to ensure all accounts are paid in full
- Record cash receipts to proper grant budgets
- Respond to grant-related questions from CRCC staff and external stakeholders
- Assist with annual budget and yearly Financial Audit
- Perform financial reporting to agency funders
- Work closely with Human Resources and Controller to ensure employee changes are appropriately reflected on grants
- Update and maintain the grants spreadsheet as changes occur
- Update and maintain the federal spreadsheet for Victims of Crime Advocacy (VOCA)
- Maintain state and federal appropriations drawdowns
- Review unclassified expenses and unassigned charges; profit and loss reconciliation
- Work closely with the finance team to review expense reports and verify grant allocation
- Year end – ensure all grants are closed out, and billing needs are met
- Special projects as necessary
RISK MANAGEMENT
- Maintains financial security by following internal controls
- Complies with federal, state, and local financial, legal requirements
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safeguarding the agency’s assets as it relates to the oversight of cash management, cash receipts, budgeting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial and grant reporting
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 3 years of Accounting experience
- Grant Accounting experience
- Non-profit Accounting experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- May consider an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training to meet the essential functions of the position
SCHEDULE/LOCATION
In order to meet the needs of CRCC, this position requires work to be performed at any of CRCC locations and at locations within the community
