Temporary Ag Field Technician

EarthOptics is a growing AgTech company developing tools that help farmers more sustainably manage their soil, increase yields and feed the growing world. EarthOptics is seeking full-time Ag Field Technicians. As a Field Technician you will join our growing field operations team and will be responsible for assisting in field crop research and collecting field data using various collection methods.  

A Day in the Life…
We work with a diverse team daily. On our first day, we cover protocols and inspect equipment before driving to our work area. After unloading, we prepare sample bags and labels, and may scan the field with our EMI system. We take extra time to teach proper EMI operation and troubleshooting. We discuss hotel and dinner plans throughout the day and end with fellowship and a meal.

Job Type: Temporary, Non-Exempt
Start Date: January 2023
End Date: September to December 2023
Travel:  Travel is required approximately 75% of the time
Compensation: $20-$25/hour. Actual pay will be adjusted based on the candidate's experience and location.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assisting in field crop research and collecting field data
  • Maintaining equipment and transporting equipment to field sites. 
  • Work alongside the Field Manager throughout training. 
  • Travel to research sites in and out-of-state.
  • Documenting processes
  • Operating vehicles and machinery in a safe manner
  • Following company procedures and protocols
  • Cooperating with technical teams and sharing information across the organization

What we are looking for:
  • Ability to do physical work in outdoor environments, e.g. collecting soil samples, loading and unloading equipment.
  • Ability to lift > 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate computers and electronic devices.
  • Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality; if hired, candidates must sign a non-disclosure agreement.
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

What would make you stand out:
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have farm or field research experience and/or educational credentials in an agronomic or engineering field.
