Butler County Storm Water/Development Engineer

Full-Time, Permanent, Salary, Non-Exempt, Classified
 Statement of Job:
Review residential and commercial construction documents for compliance with County Standards. We are seeking candidates who understand and appreciate the value of a career in the public sector and have the desire to serve the public in this capacity.
Accountability:
Reports to the Development Services / Storm Water Manager
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
Must have a valid State of Ohio driver’s license with less than six points.
A strong desire to learn to read and interpret site plans, building plans, specifications, and calculations to determine compliance. The ability to read and comprehend technical information such as regulatory publications and manuals. The ability to utilize a variety of technical information and knowledge in completing work assignments.
Physical Requirements:
The successful candidate must be able to lift manhole lids and storm sewer grates, and negotiate various terrains through construction sites, creeks, streams, rivers, and stormwater features for field reviews, inspections, and outfall monitoring. The employee must be able and willing to wear safety equipment as required by OSHA, BCEO, and District safety policy
Essential Functions
Must meet the physical requirements and be able to perform the following with or without reasonable accommodation:
Must be able to communicate well and work well with others and cooperate with residents of Butler County, Developers and their employees, contractors and their employees, vendors, customers, and other employees of Butler County.
Must have a desire and the ability to learn to review commercial site plans, subdivision drawings, subdivision plats, hydrologic and hydraulic models, drainage reports, and other documents for compliance with County design standards.
Must have the ability to assist Inspectors in their use of Access Management and Permits (driveway, right-of-way, and sediment & erosion control).
Skills & Knowledge needed to be successful in this position:
Principles and practices of civil engineering and surveying.
Basic understanding of residential & commercial development, and stormwater management.
Communicating clearly both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of software programs and databases.
