Toxicologist (Entry Level, May '23 or Recent Grad)

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, is hiring for a toxicologist. This job is within the US Army Fellow program and will start at the pay grade of GS-07 with promotion potential to GS-11. This position is being filled under the direct hire authority for post-secondary students and recent and upcoming (May 2023) graduates. In this position the incumbent will be working on scientific evaluations related to chemical and radiological impacts to human health and the environment.

This job is located in the Buffalo, NY office, and while telework may be appropriate, it is not a remote position. The position is in the Environmental Data Science Sections, and would assist with ensuring a safe work environment, as well as the remediation of contaminated sites.

DUTIES:
  • Assist with designing and using new test procedures and approaches to quantify ecological and human-health risks.
  • Assist with modifying, adapting, or extending existing methods or procedures governing baseline risk assessments.
  • Assist in researching and apply federal laws and agency regulations.
  • Assist in writing scientific evaluations related to chemical and radiological impacts to the environment.

REQUIREMENTS:

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in toxicology; or an appropriate discipline of the biological, medical, or veterinary sciences that included at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, biochemistry, or physiology, and 12 semester hours in toxicology.
