Weld Manufacturing Engineer- Variable Shift

As a Weld Assembly Engineer- Variable Shift for John Deere Harvester Works located in East Moline, IL, you will provide Weld Manufacturing Engineering support and basic troubleshooting for current welding operations on a multi- shift line. In addition, you will:
 
  • Investigate, gather and analyze data for identifying root cause for welding issues in the departments supported
  • Establish routings, pay standards, layouts, weld tooling, weldments costs, Operator Method Sheets (OMS) and control plans for revisions to current operations and/or running changes for current product
  • Identify and implement cost reduction, quality, safety and ergonomic improvement ideas for welding operations
  • Work with PDM, SAP, WPlanner/MPPlanner and Creo to perform engineering functions
  • Design cell layouts to improve material flow and material presentation              
  • Participate in annual factory capacity planning and productivity activities for departments        
  • Must be able to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift and overtime, as required, including some weekends

What Skills You Need

 
  • Ability to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift and overtime, as required, including some weekends 
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting robotics welding applications          
  • Knowledge of manufacturing weld processes, tooling and facilities              
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with union employees, peer engineers and supervisors              
  • General understanding of Creo, AutoCAD or other modeling software              
  • Knowledge of engineering tools, systems and databases (SAP, Kotem, etc.) 
               

What Makes You Stand Out

 
  • Experience with line and process design, material presentation, cycles of imbalance and visual management tools             
  • Experience with shop floor manufacturing and incentive pay systems such as Continuous Improvement Pay Plan (CIPP)          
  • Experience with Lincoln and or Miller MIG welding equipment             
  • Experience with Fanuc Robots
  • Experience with Assembly Torque Tools
            

Education

 
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
 
  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline with an emphasis on welding
