Project Technician

What You Do.
  • Maintain and promote a safe work environment by taking appropriate safety measures.
  • Represent Sargento in a professional and ethical manner when dealing with external entities.
  • Follow established maintenance excellence and required standards of excellence.
  • Utilize the predictive maintenance diagnostic tools and procedures provided, interpreting and documenting results. Taking appropriate measures to prevent failure.
  • Consults with continuous improvement team to identify and quantify opportunities including any of the following: developing project scope and objectives, project schedule, project cost and justification, plan for accomplishing project, resources needed, and project documentation.
  • Performs time studies and analyzes downtime. Uses data and continuous improvement tools to find opportunities and improve efficiencies.
  • Utilizes project management tools to manage projects effectively.
  • Generates and maintains detailed drawings or sketches using CAD.
  • Performs tests and recommends changes on equipment.
  • Work with any department within the company, agencies, manufacturers, or other vendors to resolve equipment selection, issues, and training.
  • Work with project and design engineers on technical projects or other related activities.
  • May act as a CAR Project Manager for projects of limited scope.
  • Fully assists in making patent applications as well as refraining from disclosing inventions or ideas to others unless requested to do so by Sargento and assigns any and all rights to Sargento.
  • Develops and maintains technical and project documentation.
  • Assists maintenance technicians in emergency line down situations.
  • Travel will be required as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or plant engineer.
 
Your Education and Experience.
  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or Millwright Apprenticeship required.
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
 
Your Qualifications.
  • Basic computer skills to include word process, spreadsheet software, Internet and E-mail
  • Basic CAD and drafting skill; Autodesk Suite preferred.
  • Strong shop background, including welding skill, electrical knowledge, and PLC.
  • Knowledge of regulatory guidelines.
  • Knowledge of material properties.
