Mechanical Design Engineer Supervisor

Plans, designs, and coordinates integration of machinery and equipment into the process of selective plating for both customers as well as internal applications. Oversees new product development, manages existing products, is responsible for various engineering projects, processes, budgets, and timelines, and makes any necessary adjustments to ensure successful completion. Supervises department staff at Sifco ASC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Quaker Houghton.
 
Essential Job Functions
  • Provide field-engineering support, involving complete analysis of customer requirements and selection of suitable equipment to meet requirements
  • Work collaboratively with sales, customers, and vendors to design and manage the manufacturing of tooling, fixturing, and Sifco ASC equipment
  • Direct, review, and approve designs of new products and product changes so that designs are implemented with cost-effective modifications that help improve safety and reliability
  • Develop project specifications with customers and select suitable equipment to meet project requirements
  • Lead the design of systems such as workstations, robotics, and machines and controls, applying knowledge of engineering principles
  • Manage the qualification, testing, installation, training, and service functions of automation projects including scheduling and budget management
  • Manage, mentor, and train direct reports in the Engineering group
  • Establish and maintain required documentation for Design and Development in compliance with ISO 9001D standards
  • Travel to customer and supplier sites as needed
  • Adapts easily to changing priorities and exhibits determination in meeting goals and objectives while working independently or in a team environment
 
Essential Job Requirements
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical or Electro-Mechanical) or similar technical degree with 10+ years of work experience
  • Demonstrated advanced experience in 2D & 3D CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)
  • Strong analytical, math, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with basic machine shop equipment, ability to construct and decipher part and assembly drawings, solid models, and assemblies
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Leadership skills necessary to manage and develop a team
  • Must be a US Person (under ITAR rules) to be eligible
Other Skills/Abilities
  • Familiar with electrochemistry and plating processes
  • Familiar with project management 
  • Familiar with PLC programming or electrical ladder/logic circuits preferred
