This position serves as the Associate Director of Clinical Services. Duties are performed under the direction of the Office Director. This position provides technical guidance and management to the professional, technical, and support staff in the Clinical Services Division that includes the Laboratory Support, Diagnostic Immunology, Newborn Screening, and Microbiology Sections. This position is responsible for the operation of OLS in the absence of the Office Director. Assigns work, trains, supervises, and evaluates subordinate staff. Serves as Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement coordinator to ensure staff training, proficiency, competency, and quality assessment activities are complete. Provides guidance to local health departments, federal and other state partners, and clinical partners on test methods, result interpretation, and other laboratory data. Assists the Office Director with fiscal resource management and forecasting of budgetary needs and monitors expenditures. 

Minimum Qualifications
Training: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a biological, microbiological, chemical, or environmental science, medical technology, molecular biology, forensic sciences, or related field.
AND
Experience:  Six (6) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid laboratory experience that is clinical or environmental in nature that produces a test result.
OR
Substitution:   Graduate course work in one of the areas as described above from a regionally accredited college or university may substitute at the rate of one (1) year of experience for fifteen (15) semester hours of education.

Special Requirement: For positions which involve processing and analysis of human specimens and/or the generation or interpretation of laboratory results that may be used in the diagnosis or treatment of a disease or condition in humans, the incumbent must have or be eligible for licensure as a WV Clinical Laboratory Practitioner as required by 64 C.S.R.§57.
