Avery Dennison’s North America Early Career Program (ECP) has a single business focus to build talent for our rapidly growing organization. With a concentrated blend of experiential on-the-job learning and classroom and virtual training, the ECP serves as the talent pipeline for roles throughout the organization.
We are looking for agile problem solvers who enjoy working in a dynamic and collaborative environment to be our next Product Stewardship Associates receive in-depth exposure to multiple areas/divisions of our business. Our program is flexible and passionate about the development needs of our associates alongside the needs of the business. With a 24-30 month training curriculum that is rooted in our Avery Dennison values, and will guide you on your career path.
We are considering individuals who are passionate about working in our Mentor, OH location on a hybrid work schedule.
What you will be doing
The primary roles and responsibilities of this Early Careers Program Associate will be:
We are looking for a motivated Product Stewardship Specialist to join our team! As a Product Stewardship Specialist ,you will focus on global product stewardship with global product stewardship with diverse activities to support business operations. This opportunity includes supporting our customers directly, in addition to customer service, sales, marketing, and product development functions with compliance information, documents, processes, guidance, and training needed to assist them in supporting customer needs and regulatory requirements. This role also supports corporate governance by ensuring full compliance with government regulations and customer requirements for Avery Dennison products with adherence to the related current business processes and data management systems.
What you will be doing:
  • Implement program with supplier base to assess and maintain key compliance, product safety, and sustainability profiles of company products
  • Administer a database of compliance, sustainability and safety information, using it to provide applicable compliance information to customers on company products.
  • Work with respective region to keep supplier contact info up to date in ADPS
  • Track major regulatory updates and further confirm supplier/raw material compliance
  • Enhance restricted substance management in collaboration with procurement and support phase out strategy for chemicals of concern
  • Train global compliance team and suppliers how to use new product stewardship database
  • Create and and manage a dashboard to track compliance and sustainability info
  • Train internal and external stakeholders on compliance topics as needed.

Qualifications

What you will need to bring to the program
Avery Dennison has a long history of being an industry leader. Your history is important to us. It should include the following:
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a focus on Engineering (Chemical preferred). Expected graduation date should be December 2022 (to start in January 2023) or May 2023 (to start in June 2023)
Preferred Experience
  • Previous internship/co-op experience required or relevant work experience in compliance management, product compliance or product stewardship
  • Demostrated data management ability to obtain, organize and understand complex and large amounts of data using leading data management systems and tools
  • Experience via student organizations, such as Engineers without Borders, Society of Women Engineers, National Society of Black Engineers, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers etc. 
  • Volunteerism or similar activities
 
Travel
  • Ability to travel up to 20 percent of the time
