Duties
The appointee will work on the development of polymer synthesis, functional monomer, processing / molding technology and related application. He/she will work in a dynamic and efficient team. The ideal candidate should have the potential to lead research in block co-polymer or functional monomer design / processing / recipe / application. The appointee will be responsible for:
- Polymer design / synthesis / modification for target application;
- Hands on functional monomer / precursor design, synthesis, curing process study, purification process design to fulfill project target;
- Design functional polymer formulation and develop appropriate process for technology commercialization;
- Apply the polymer technology to make prototype to achieve desired functions and product performance;
- Characterize and test samples from lab-scale to process stages and evaluating the material performance;
- Scaling up process for trial production including synthesis, purification, processing and post-treatment; and
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- PhD or MPhil degree holder in Organic or Polymer Science/ Analysis Chemistry/ Surface Chemistry / Functional Coating or related disciplines fulfilling the following technical requirements:
- Research experience in design, fabrication and characterization of polymer/composite;
- Research experience in chemical and mechanical characterization of polymer composite materials;
- Good knowledge of polymer chemistry, polymer physics, polymer composite and engineering;
- Formulation experience in the industry about polyurethane, epoxy, acrylate or silicon oil/rubber would be an advantage; and
- Polymer processing experience such as reaction injection, extrusion, vacuum molding, blowing film, etc. would be an advantage.
- Hard-working and have a strong sense of ownership for his/her work is a must;
- Good analytical and troubleshooting skills;
- Creative and passionate on material innovation;
- Open-minded, willing to learn & share;
- Team work with good communication skills;
- Self-motivated, pre-active working style and ability to work independently;
- Sensitive to manufacturability and production costs;
- Industrial experience in product development would be an advantage;
- Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese; and
- Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, ability of literature and patent review is necessary.
