Chemical or Mechanical Engineer I, II, III or Sr (7886BR)

Position Purpose :
This position independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in identifying and implementing enhancements, adaptations, and modifications to existing and/or new equipment and systems. Assignments have clear and specified objectives and will require investigation of a number of variables.

Job Description :
Plans and performs design, development and/or operating engineering assignments which could include responsibility for the engineering and construction of portions of a major project.

Coordinates the labor force assigned to each activity.

Coordinates activities of an assigned group with the various stages of an overall program.

Engineering assignments are broad in nature and incumbent will have the latitude of and the responsibility for unreviewed actions or decisions.

In some instances, incumbent will temporarily supervise or be assisted by personnel from engineering, technician, and craft levels.

Coordinates the activities of Engineer I and II, technician, and/or others assigned to specific projects, as necessary.

Supports various plant operations and maintenance groups with engineering based troubleshooting, problem analysis, and resolution.

Assists with the development of engineering goals, objectives, budgets, programs, and procedures.

Plans and controls all activities so as to provide an accident-free work place.

Conducts work activities with regard to environmental rules and regulations.

Regularly reviews assignments to assure optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness.

Prepares specifications, scopes of work, and participate in the commercial process for third party work activities. Reviews vendor bids and advises management for purchase recommendation.

Directs the activities of contractors, consultants, vendors, cooperative interns, bargaining unit employees and others, as instructed, as they perform various activities including installation, commissioning, or checkout of new equipment, troubleshooting, testing, tuning, etc. Occasionally participates in hands on testing and troubleshooting of power plant equipment.

Provides engineering insight for combustion optimization, boiler/HRSG performance, s combustion turbine performance, steam turbine cycle thermal performance, balance of plant component performance, selective catalytic reduction and catalyst lifecycle management,, particulate removal, water treatment systems, flue gas desulfurization, and by-products systems. Provides holistic engineering insight to evaluate and improve unit heat rates.

Provides in-house consulting and expertise as well as development and improvements for holistic plant process optimization

Performs other duties as directed by management.

Education & Experience :
ABET Accredited bachelor degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering is required.
