Engineer I - Water Resources - Hydrology/Hydraulics

Under the guidance of a licensed professional engineer (P.E.) and as a member of an engineering project team, this position is responsible for providing engineering and database support for large to small-scale drainage projects for both public and private clients. Your technical experience will be supplemented by our EIT training program and activities we have planned for you - it’s the Pape-Dawson Way!

Responsibilities
  • Be present and willing to learn from anyone and everyone
  • Assist Project Managers and Senior Engineers perform hydrologic modeling and 1D/2D hydraulic modeling for various types of public and private projects, both local and regional
  • Model and develop concept plans for detention, open channels, and storm drain for various size projects
  • Develop FEMA submittals for Conditional Letters of Map Revision and Letters of Map Revision
  • Develop Stormwater Management Plans for proposed projects
  • Develop construction plans, specifications and estimates for a variety of sizes and types of drainage projects.
  • Construction observation at various construction stages
  • Be active in our Pape-Dawson activities- we have lots of fun while serving each other, our community and clients

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university
  • Previous experience through an internship with a civil design firm in hydrology/hydraulics modeling, design and/or construction is excellent but certainly not required
  • Engineering coursework focused on hydrology and hydraulics
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and Excel is really beneficial, but we can teach you what you need to know so it is not required
  • Experience with databases and ArcGIS; use of HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS and XP-SWMM- preferred but not required
  • Effective communications skills, both oral and written, for team collaboration and interpersonal relationships developed with clients and agency representatives
  • Ability to interact professionally with clients and all level of employees within an organization
  • Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm with occasional overtime- sometimes it is necessary to work to get the job done outside the normal business day
  • Must be reliable and dependable- your team will be counting on you!
