CAD Designer

Position Summary
Works under the immediate supervision of a design engineer to create assembly and fabrication CAD drawings of assigned task. Uses predefined guidelines and procedures to adhere to corporate standards. Reviews engineering datasheets and offers to complete assigned work. Works with applications and sales engineers when required. Reports to Design Engineering department supervisor.
 
Essential Functions
 
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following
  • Using AutoCAD Mechanical and Inventor software’s to develop designs
  • Creating and revising general arrangement and manufacturing drawings
  • Checking dimensions of part, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.
  • Utilizing knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
  • Drafting detailed multi view drawings of products.
  • Communicating to Engineering, and Project manager regarding new and revised prints
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
 
Other Skills
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be a team player with excellent organizational skills.
  • Will be able to work independently in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problem situations.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload, meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge of welded, cast and machined materials, rotating equipment and motors/drives.
  • Ability to read, interpret drawings from various sources and included supplied information in the creation of new drawings
  • High skill level in AutoCAD software, both Mechanical desktop and Inventor; skilled in PC usage and associated software including Microsoft office; familiarity of SAP is a plus but not a requirement
  • Experience in designing weldments or machined parts is necessary
  • Must be a self-starter and able to multi-task.
  • Must be able to work in the US permanently
Physical Demands/Work Environment
  • Ability to view video display terminal images < 18” away from face for extended periods of time – up to four (4) hours at a time.
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and telephone.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time – up to four (4) hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift, tug, pull up to fifteen (15) pounds.
