Water Resources Control Engineer

If so, then this is the position for you! Apply today and join our team! The State Water Resource Control Board’s Division of Drinking Water has an opening for a Water Resource Control Engineer. The position is located at 500 N. Central Ave. Suite 500, Glendale, close to freeways, access to public transportation, many great eateries and more.

Duties:
Under the close supervision of the Senior Sanitary Engineer in the Division of Drinking Water’s (DDW’s) Southern California Section with the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), the incumbent will conduct inspection of public water systems, physical inspection of water source intakes, treatment plants, storage reservoirs, pump stations, and distribution facilities. Review system operational records, procedures and submitted documents, gather data, maintain and update system inventory and inspection information, prepare reports and letters documenting inspections and required corrective actions, maintain and update computer databases, and communicate findings with the Senior Water Resource Control Engineer or Senior Sanitary Engineer and water system personnel. Additional duties include: Prepare or review reports and recommendations on permit requests for construction or modification of public water system sources, treatment plants, reservoirs, distribution and collection systems, and other related construction activities, make and check engineering calculations, design drawings, and other engineering documents to assure that water purveyors comply with good engineering practices and legal requirements, conduct on-site field inspection of water system facilities as part of permit application processing, conduct enforcement activities to bring public water systems into compliance with applicable State laws and regulations, prepare enforcement letters, citations, and compliance orders, track compliance dates and take necessary follow-up action to ensure public water systems comply with directives of the Division, review plans for water treatment plants and proposed projects for recycled water reuse to determine compliance with health and engineering standards and regulations, review and comment on environmental impact reports to local agencies, provide engineering assistance to public water systems and Local Primacy Agency on water quality issues, operational problems, and treatment facilities, policy development and studies, assist in conducting investigations of water quality problems such as those resulting from chemical or bacteriological contamination of public water supplies, consult with and advise a variety of health and other public officials, engineers, attorneys, water consumer groups, and others on public health aspects of water supply quality control programs, and assist in making presentations to interested groups on a variety of health related water supply matters.
