Formulation Scientist

The Formulation Scientist at LFA Machines is a new and exciting position that is responsible for product formulation development projects conducted for our customers (blends, capsules, tablets, etc.). Main tasks include project preparation, execution and reporting. You will work independently on formulation projects but also in collaboration with other departments so we can support our prospective and existing customers in the best way.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Providing technical expertise/scientific input on formulation development strategies.
  • Preparation and practical execution of formulation development projects daily.
  • Providing scientific expertise and formulation insights internally and externally.
  • Assisting to client meetings to present scientific data in a clear manner.
  • Successfully conducting concept, product and formulation testing and recording them appropriately. Collaborating with food safety and warehouse staff during the process.
  • Writing scientific reports for clients, e.g. formulation development reports
  • Drafting work instructions for internal use to ensure that work is performed efficiently and in a scientifically sound manner
  • Monitoring experiments (e.g. process development, implementation of new formulation techniques) and ensuring complex data are interpreted in a scientifically correct way
  • Identifying potential stability and performance issues with prototype formulations
  • Streamlining the activities associated with a wide variety of formulation technologies to shorten Formulation Lab turnaround times and improve the quality of formulations being delivered
  • Supporting the scale-up of developed formulations and bringing them to GMP manufacturing
  • When not working on customer projects, the Formulation Scientist will handle formulation inquiries from customers (phone and email).
  • When not working on customer projects, developing new internal and external content, e.g, white papers, articles, digital media...

About You:
Our ideal candidate will have finished or is finishing a MA or PHD in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a focus on Industrial Pharmacy, and will have a few years experience (5 preferably) developing products in capsule and tablet form having overcomed different formulation challenges.

We want to hear from you even if that isn't exactly the path you took! Here are the job requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience manufacturing capsules and tablets.
  • Degree in biology, chemistry, pharmacy, chemical engineering, food science.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Self-motivated and able to adapt to changing environment with ease.
  • Able to deliver results within limited time and budget; solution-oriented.
  • Great knowledge of tablet and capsule manufacturing, incl. excipients, active ingredients and formulas.
  • MAs and PhDs or equivalent in Pharmaceutical Sciences desirable.
