AQUACULTURE ASSOCIATE (Salmon Farm Technician)

What You Will Do as The Aquaculture Associate
Our Aquaculture Associates work as part of a small team, dedicated to ensuring the health and performance of live salmon, from egg to harvest stages. The role includes:
  • Monitor rearing environments through water quality and equipment checks, and make corrective actions as needed.
  • Feeding fish via manual and automated systems
  • Track health-related indicators among the fish
  • Maintaining a safe, orderly, and sanitary working environment
  • Handling, grading, and transferring of salmon through the rearing areas, using a variety of specialized equipment.
  • Collect data and maintain accurate production records.
You Need to Possess These Basic Skills
  • Work with a high level of commitment to safety, always.
  • Medium to a high level of physical fitness.
  • The ability to lift 50 lbs. and work while standing for up to 12 hours.
  • Ability to climb stairs/ladders/working on raised platforms/surfaces.
  • Comfort working in harnesses and from approx. 20-40ft. off the ground, at times.
  • Ability to repeatedly bend, crouch, stoop, and pull.
  • High level of dexterity and ability to work with hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to work in a team and independently.
  • Experience caring for farm animals or fish is a plus (but not a requirement).
  • A degree in a scientific field: e.g., biology, marine biology, zoology, veterinary, or mathematics is highly desirable, but not required.
  • Math skills for calculations
  • Applicants must consent to a background check and drug screening.
