AQUACULTURE ASSOCIATE (Salmon Farm Technician)

What You Will Do as The Aquaculture Associate
Our Aquaculture Associates work as part of a small team, dedicated to ensuring the health and performance of live salmon, from egg to harvest stages. The role includes:
- Monitor rearing environments through water quality and equipment checks, and make corrective actions as needed.
- Feeding fish via manual and automated systems
- Track health-related indicators among the fish
- Maintaining a safe, orderly, and sanitary working environment
- Handling, grading, and transferring of salmon through the rearing areas, using a variety of specialized equipment.
- Collect data and maintain accurate production records.
You Need to Possess These Basic Skills
- Work with a high level of commitment to safety, always.
- Medium to a high level of physical fitness.
- The ability to lift 50 lbs. and work while standing for up to 12 hours.
- Ability to climb stairs/ladders/working on raised platforms/surfaces.
- Comfort working in harnesses and from approx. 20-40ft. off the ground, at times.
- Ability to repeatedly bend, crouch, stoop, and pull.
- High level of dexterity and ability to work with hand and power tools.
- Must be able to work in a team and independently.
- Experience caring for farm animals or fish is a plus (but not a requirement).
- A degree in a scientific field: e.g., biology, marine biology, zoology, veterinary, or mathematics is highly desirable, but not required.
- Math skills for calculations
