Senior Research Scientist; Particle Engineering

SR. RESEARCH SCIENTIST - PARTICLE ENGINEERING in West Lafayette, IN

The Sr. Research Scientist is an integral part of the Curia team, contributing to our success by performing solid form screening, crystallization process development experiments, interpreting solid state analytical data, and expertly reporting the results.

In this role, you will:

  • Oversee and/or perform laboratory experiments in the areas of crystallization process development and solid form screening of pharmaceutical compounds including but not limited to polymorph, salt, cocrystal, crystallization and solid dispersion screens.
  • Interpret data from a wide range of solid-state and particle characterization techniques.
  • Convey experimental and analytical results to clients in data summaries and reports.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation (records and lab notebooks).
  • Meet timelines for delivering on clients' expectations.
  • Communicate clearly and accurately with internal and external clients, both verbally and through written data summaries and reports.
  • Design experimental plans and write appropriately scoped proposals for clients.
  • Comply with cGMP procedures, safety requirements, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with co-workers and contribute to team activities.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Required:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Pharmaceutical Sciences with at least 2 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Pharmaceutical Sciences with at least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Significant experience with Word, Powerpoint, Excel, or equivalent software.
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn and implement a wide variety of software packages for processing and interpretation of analytical data.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills to identify and resolve clients' issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and mentor scientists.
Preferred:

  • Experience working in a GMP environment, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of and hands-on experience with pharmaceutical solids and/or crystallization process development.
  • Mentor and/or lead a group of scientists.
