Description

 
Position Summary:  
Performs a variety of duties involving the laboratory testing of prototypes, production samples, and/or competitive products for quality control or product development purposes. Typically works independently to support testing for local and remote internal customers. May work within a team when running more critical tests of complex mechanisms or electrical apparatus. Sets up standard test sets or mechanical testing devices in accordance with directions. Runs tests and records test data for analysis and evaluation by engineers. Identifies and documents deviations in reactions not anticipated in prescribed test procedures. May assist laboratory mechanics (model makers) in the fabrication, bench work and assembly of models and components.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Oversee setup, performance, tracking, and closeout of long term environmental endurance testing
  • Coordinate and perform reliability and durability testing according to defined protocols and schedules
  • Reads and records test data and calls attention to deviations or variations not indicated or anticipated
  • Interface directly with engineering staff to for assigned tasks related to test, inspection, tear-down, and reporting technical information
  • Complete maintenance and housekeeping for assigned equipment and work spaces
  • Provide support to performance lab by investigating equipment issues and taking action towards rapid solutions
  • Provide support to production for end of line test system operation and maintenance
  • Assist with assembly build and validation of internally developed test equipment
 
 

Qualifications

 
Required Education / Experience / Skills:
  • Requires completion of a 2 year technical degree program and 5 or more years of experience.
  • Must be able to read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings
  • Must have safe working experience with AC & DC electrical systems. NEC & NFPA code experience desired.
  • Experience with tools and instruments related to installation and testing for electric motors, generators, and drives preferred.
  • Written communication skills using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) applications to clearly exchange technical information and concepts is desirable.
  • Experience reviewing, creating, or editing CAD documents using DraftSight or Solidworks software is desirable.
