Assoc Engineer

Summary:
The Pipeline Integrity Sr Engineer reports to the Sr. Manager of Pipeline Integrity (East). This position involves a diverse involvement in various aspects of the company’s business related to pipeline integrity, assessment planning and scheduling, SCC management, and defect evaluations. This position requires periodic travel to field locations, training, and company meetings. A primary focus of this position will be on the management of SCC and seam-related conditions for LF-ERW pipe.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Support the Company’s Integrity Management Plan (IMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) in areas such as risk assessment, data integration, anomaly evaluation, remediation programs, integrity program evaluation and identification of preventive and mitigative measures.
  • Utilize engineering tools such as DRAS software, GIS database interactive maps, and pipeline integrity data sheets to identify potential risks and track program progress on specific lines.
  • Initiate and lead interaction with appropriate subject matter experts and other stakeholders such as third- party resources and vendors to perform crack growth calculations, analyze pressure cycling, perform materials testing, and communicate requirements for in-field evaluation of anomalies and defects.
  • Conduct annual risk review meetings with stakeholders (management, engineering, etc., operations) and provide feedback to Integrity Services for risk modeling.
  • Review risk model results from PLI Services.
  • Provides technical support for Integrity Project Managers, and Operations with pipeline assessments, evaluation, and repair methods.
  • Assists in the management of Company pipeline SOPs covering defect evaluations, pipe repairs, pressure reductions, outside force evaluation, and surveillance.
  • Assists in inspections by PHMSA and other regulatory bodies by acting as an SME on pipeline inspections, data, records, and program execution.
  • Assists in developing improvements to the company’s Integrity Management Plan including the written plan, procedures, best practices, and processes.
  • Collect and provide Pipeline Integrity related data for performance metrics, required annual reporting, and to help monitor key performance indicators for assigned assets.
  • Provide input to support the construction of new pipelines and/or perform due diligence to support Pipeline Integrity efforts to incorporate newly operated assets into the IMP

Requirements:
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
  • Graduate engineer with BS in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical or Petroleum engineering. 
  • 0 - 3 years of experience
 
Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:
  • The Engineer level requires a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 3-6 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Senior Engineer level requires a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering disciplineand 6-10 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Staff Engineer level requires Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 10+ years of relevant job related experience
  • The Principal Engineer level requires Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 12+ years of relevant job related experience with a strong preference for a PE license
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience desirable in pipeline operations, pipeline design, pipeline repair and pipeline integrity issues such as corrosion control, pipeline assessment and fitness for service evaluation, risk management, DOT Code requirements and compliance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  •  A highly developed ability with PC’s and office computer software is required.
  •  Must be a self-starter and self-motivator, with ability to perform effectively with minimal supervision.

  • Normal office working conditions and field work
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment will occur.
