Graduate Engineer A, Graduate Engineer B or Engineer A, Engineer B or Engineer C

Three vacant positions will be filled at one of the following levels depending on applicant qualifications:

Graduate Engineer A:
Education and/or Equivalent Experience: Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job.
Licenses and Certifications Required: None. 
 
Graduate Engineer B:
Education and/or Equivalent Experience: Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a related field, plus two (2) years of experience in engineering.
Licenses and Certifications Required: Texas: Engineer – In Training Certification.
 
Engineer A: 
Education and/or Equivalent Experience: Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years of engineering experience acquired either before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer. 
Licenses and Certifications Required: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas.
 
Engineer B: 
Education and/or Equivalent Experience: Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to engineering, plus six (6) years experience in engineering, acquired either before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer. 
Licenses and Certifications Required: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas.
 
Engineer C: 
Education and/or Equivalent Experience: Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus eight (8) years of engineering experience acquired either before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer. 
Licenses and Certifications Required: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas.
Notes to ApplicantsThe City of Austin Transportation Department (ATD) is seeking innovative individuals to fill three positions in our engineering operations groups within the Transportation Engineering Division. This is an exciting opportunity to implement national best-practice in engineering transportation engineering to improve safety and mobility for all users while working closely with our Area Transportation Engineers. This position will occasionally require work-related commitments in the evenings and on weekends to attend public meetings or to make engineering-related observations.

This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon candidate qualifications:
  • Graduate Engineer A: $29.83 to $38.78 per hour
  • Graduate Engineer B: $31.62 to $41.11 per hour
  • Engineer A: $33.52 to $43.58 per hour
  • Engineer B: $35.53 to $46.19 per hour
  • Engineer C: $37.30 to $49.43 per hour

Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 
Hours may vary depending on departmental needs and initiatives.
