Starting Salary Range: $40,407 to $ 66,214

Promotion opportunities are aligned with these developmental positions to allow quick, non-competitive progression thru salary grade levels based on training, job performance, OPM regulations, and supervisor recommendation. Developmental Positions start as GS-05 to GS-11 ($40,407 to $66,214 plus possible recruitment incentives) with a target grade of GS-12/NH-03 ($79,363 - $122,683).

Qualifications:
In this position you will serve as Mechanical Engineer in the F-15 Program Office. Specific responsibilities of the position include supporting the Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP) through reviewing and executing finite element analysis, driving individual aircraft tracking (IAT) inspections, conducting risk assessments, and analyzing fleet management issues. The position also includes support of the Mechanical Equipment and Subsystem Integrity Program Manager through review of operational F-15 Systems data, conducting risk assessments, and analyzing various fleet management issues.

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an institution with an ABET accredited engineering program.
  • The employee must meet the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.
  • The employee must meet the continuing acquisition education requirements IAW DoDI 5000.66 paragraph E2.2.8.
  • Knowledge of engineering methods sufficient to adapt precedents or existing strategies to meet unusual needs, special demands, and determine feasible solutions to meet project requirements related to avionics electrical engineering.
  • Knowledge of analysis, evaluation, fact-finding, and investigative techniques in order to gather data, identify significant factors, and recommend a solution from a number of possible alternatives.
  • Ability to plan and organize work; communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing; as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies.
