Field Engineer- West Palm Beach, FL

JMT's Construction Management & Inspection team is seeking a Field Engineer, in the West Palm Beach area, to apply standard engineering principles and inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes. Sponsorship not available for this position. As a condition of employment, hire will be required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Proof of vaccination will need to be submitted as part of the interview/hiring process. 
 
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations.
  • Performs routine tests on asphalt, concrete, soils and other materials
  • Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.
  • Gathers and maintains record documents
  • Makes field notes and computations
  • Documents quantities and assists the Project Manager with payment processing
 
Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an EAC/ABET-accredited undergraduate program or a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology from an ETAC/ABET-accredited undergraduate program
  • Engineer Intern (EI) Certification or ability to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam within 6 months
  • Active driver’s license
 
Qualifications Preferred:
  • Client requested certifications
  • Construction inspection experience
 
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in the field and office. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
