Boardwalk Pipelines, LP primarily provides transportation and storage of natural gas and liquids for our customers. Additional information about the Partnership can be found online at www.bwpipelines.com.
 
We are currently looking for an Engineer I/II/III/Sr. for our Houston, TX office.
 
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
 
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and implementing the Company Welding Program across the entire BWP pipeline system which will include providing welding procedures and non-destructive examination (NDE) procedures to support Company construction and maintenance projects. The position will require daily interaction with Company Engineers, Project Managers and third-party Contractors and must represent the Company in a professional capacity in a dynamic, work-oriented environment.
 
Additional responsibilities will include:
*Managing Company welder qualification program and welder database
*Evaluating and approving vendors/third-party Contractors including, fabrication shops, welder qualification and testing facilities, and NDE Contractors
*Providing training to Company and third-party welders and inspectors
*Becoming an OQ (Operator Qualification) Evaluator for welding and NDE OQ tasks
*Reviewing new regulations and industry standards and updating Company procedures as necessary
*Supporting other departments during State and DOT PHMSA audits
 
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
 
*Ability to read, understand and apply directions, policies, procedures, guidelines, requirements and regulations
*Excellent problem solving and written and verbal communication skills
*Well organized with a high degree of initiative and motivation
*Ability to work efficiently and independently with minimal direct supervision
*Strong computer applications skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
*Willing and able to travel (50% of time) and work in a variety of environments, including pipeline right-of-way’s and manufacturing facilities
*BS in Welding Engineering, BS in Metallurgy, or BS in Welding Engineering Technology from an accredited University or 7+ years of experience with practical in-depth technical knowledge from a pipeline operating company and possess an AWS CWI Certification
 
PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
 
*BS/MS in Welding Engineering
*Background in pipeline construction practices, materials, inspection and manufacturing/fabrication methods applicable to the equipment and systems used in the transportation of natural gas and hazardous liquid pipelines
*Working knowledge of pipeline regulations and industry standards such as API 5L, ASME B31.8/B31.4, API 1104 and 49 CFR Part 192/195
