  • Evaluate existing manufacturing equipment to identify methods for improvement
  • Develop mechanical designs using SolidWorks and 2D shop prints using AutoCAD
  • Develop mechanical designs that follow all OSHA safety requirements
  • Account for operator safety, ergonomics, and cycle time in equipment design
  • Account for effective maintenance procedures in equipment design
  • Design error proofing concepts (poke-yoke) into mechanical and electrical design
  • Confirm manufacturing equipment capabilities by evaluating quality reports and analysis of equipment performance data
  • Develop detailed equipment and machine specifications for obtaining quotes
  • Basic understanding of PLC processors and HMI display screens
  • Ability to review and understand customer product design and functionality
  • Develop methods for testing and validating product functionality
  • Develop systems for collecting manufacturing equipment settings and test results allowing for future reference
  • Utilize project Gantt charts to manage daily project schedules for keeping all task on schedule and identify potential delays
  • Maintain detailed list of open action items to review with project team for resolution
  • Report weekly progress to management team

  • Ability to conceptualize and organize plans to achieve mechanical design functionality
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electric motor functionality
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances
  • Ability to prioritize project activities and to hold team members accountable for daily and weekly assignments
  • Reasoning skills for problem identification and resolution
  • Basic understanding of equipment design using Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Process Quality Control Plans to ensure equipment is designed to capture quality issues
  • Must excel at working in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate detailed technical initiatives to non-technical associates

Some travel may be required. Must have a valid driver's license and transportation
