Engineering Intern - Summer 2022

OBJECTIVE: The main goal of the Process Improvement Intern is to assist with projects in all aspects including data collection, data entry, and data analysis. In addition, conduct time studies for various processes across the plant to create an expected standard for the various projects. These updated times will be used for the downtime and efficiency file, which grades each department/shift. Additional projects will be added in the summer.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma is required. Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in related field such as Business Management, Business Agriculture, Engineering, or Animal Science. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
 
SKILLS REQUIRED: This position requires excellent written and verbal skills. Proficiency at math is also essential. Must have computer experience with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.). This person must have excellent organizational skills, be detail oriented, and be able to work cooperatively with others. Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with a general understanding of data analysis techniques will be beneficial. 
 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work independently in a farm, plant, or office environment, gathering and interpreting data for specific projects in the related field.
  2. Prepare regular report-outs on progress on projects and updates on learning opportunities for open communication with manager.
  3. Plan, organize and document all appropriate trial or project information.
  4. Maintain a journal of all activities and responsibilities during the duration of the internship.
  5. Prepare and present a presentation of the internship project to management at the end of the summer Intern Summit.
  6. Follow all health and safety rules to ensure a safe work experience
  7. Assure all biosecurity, food safety or animal care procedures are followed and critique program for improvement and report to management.
  8. Maintain a driving record in accordance with the Cooper Farms Fleet Safety Manual.
  9. Promote the Cooper Culture through trainings and personal demonstration.
  10. Maintain an active interest in performance level, attendance, and attitude.
  11. Follow all safety practices and protocols.
  12. Perform all duties as apparent or assigned.
