Intern-Welding Engineer (Summer 2022 Internship)

Careers that Change Lives:
Learn use and application of laser and resistance welding technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques. Capable of learning and performing all required competencies in the welding functional area. Learn basic understanding of mechanical testing and failure modes of welds. Learn to evaluate and identify critical weld inputs and outputs, & design and analyze an appropriate DOE (full factorial, minitab). Learn basic understanding of heat balance, flow, tooling, and equipment development.

A Day in the Life:
•   Assist with writing engineering reports. 
•   Learn how to execute FMEA, MSA, and other basic documents.
•   Learnt to trend data, and identify anomalous behavior
•   Works with designers to develop appropriate tooling for a feasibility study
•   Learn to write requests for analytical lab (SEM, EDS, nanohardness, etching, etc)
•   Research and summarize analytical findings and make them relevant to work performed
•   Learn to make basic metallurigcal assessments and measurements (grain structure, stress vs. strain curves, bonding mechanisms)
•   Works under general supervision. Follows established procedures. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment and overall adequacy.
•   Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects. 
 
Must Have: Currently in an Engineering program. Must be continuing school after the internship also to be considered. 

Nice to Have:
•   Provide feedback on Gantt chart expectations
•   Learns to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
•   Learns to evaluate and identify critical laser weld inputs and outputs, & design and analyze an appropriate DOE (full factorial, minitab) Single process owner (Capable of developing of a process)
•   Can execute tactics to functional strategies with some supervision
