Engineering Intern

Danone North America is looking for an Engineering Intern in Minster, Ohio.
 
Responsibilities in this role will include (but are not limited to):
  • Interact with plant teams (Utilities, Packaging, Processing, Quality, Finance and Management) Corporate Engineering, Sourcing & Supplier Development, R&D, Danone Engineering Worldwide and appropriate vendors, suppliers, contractors, operators and auditors.
  • Investigate and recommend the application of equipment, automation systems and manufacturing technologies in the Utility, Processing, Filling and Packaging departments with requirements of personnel safety, food safety, energy and water conservation for the Minster, Ohio facility
  • Conduct (sometimes lead) research, analysis, and improvement projects related to department goals
  • Actively engage current workforce ( such as job shadowing) to effectively achieve project and department goals
  • Track, drive and report actions to closure
  • Manage small and medium scale capital projects to learn to deliver the business needs using sound project management knowledge and tools, and full cooperation of the manufacturing facility.
  • Project involvement from concept to budget, justification, and design phase through planning, risk analysis, resource identification, implementation, commissioning and closing
  • Prepare technical proposals for feasibility study of new concepts, launch of new products and improvement of current products
  • Ensure that the business needs are well validated by a cross-section of the business and translated into equipment requirements for improving or expanding the plant operations (including new product launches and innovations) and making major repairs to systems buildings
  • Write specifications and reference Global Danone Standards
  • Present research findings and solution proposals to peers and plant leadership
  • Act as a consultant to the maintenance department for solving technical problems
  • Technical guidance and engineering support to consumer business units
  • Non-Disclosure and Confidentiality is a must
  • Perform other duties as assigned
 
Targeted Profile:
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate engineering program in either Manufacturing, Industrial, Manufacturing, Chemical or related engineering science
  • Experience in manufacturing, food or dairy industry is preferred
  • Knowledge of high-speed packaging systems design and integrated automation and controls technology
  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and MS Project
  • Knowledge of project management process, tools and tasks associated with preparation and execution of capital projects, and financial and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally with clients, vendors and team members at all levels
  • Must be self-motivated, have good mechanical aptitude and ability to work well with others
  • Strong "self-management" skills, requiring minimal daily supervision
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced team environment and resolve conflicts
  • Ability to read and interpret technical instructions and drawings
  • Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously, to establish and adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekend or late shifts, during installation periods
  • Responsible for their own housing and transportation
