Entry-Level Engineer (Construction)

The entry-level engineer is primarily responsible for coordinating materials procurement to meet the needs of project construction. They will assist in-field project superintendents with setting construction schedules and communicating with the owner’s engineering representatives to resolve issues that arise during the construction process. In addition, the entry-level engineer will direct the final startup and project handoff to the owner after completion of work and will resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during this process. The entry-level engineer will work closely with the senior project manager, and perform any additional tasks as directed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Submittal management - development and review of suppliers/subs submittals, submissions, administration, tracking
  • Solicitation- seeking out subs/suppliers, providing them bid package documents, and evaluating quotes
  • Interpretation of drawings and specifications for; (i) layout purposes, experience with setting grades, lines, and using total stations for stakeout/layout of work, (ii) materials takeoffs for ordering and the release materials, (iii) development and administration of RFI's
  • Coordination with suppliers and subcontractors on work/material deliveries
  • CPM Scheduling using Primavera CPM programs
  • Accept, inventory, and organize material deliveries, reviewing for order completeness/quality

Experience/Qualifications:

  • College degree, engineering or sciences preferred
  • Required construction related experience: Entry Level: 0 years, Mid Level: 1-4 years
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Primavera, and Bluebeam (pdf's) preferred
  • Solicitation experience
  • Strong coordination skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to adjust to changing circumstances
  • Safety and quality control inspection experience
  • Willingness to travel and work out of town on a regular basis
