Position overview:  The Manufacturing Engineer will be expected to provide manufacturing engineering expertise by supporting, developing, and improving manufacturing techniques, equipment, tools, fixtures, machinery, and other devices needed to produce a quality product at minimal cost. This involves applying engineering principles and analytical techniques to advance continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and products.

Primary Responsibilities:  Develops innovative solutions to complex engineering and manufacturing production problems through identification and implementation of manufacturing process including conducting process analysis and soliciting observations from the operators and maintenance technicians.

Analyze existing production processes, identify work elements, time them & optimize balance.  Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and improving workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout. Refines and enhances processes by applying continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing techniques to areas of production and distribution.

Partner with Operations, RD, Quality, Maintenance, Distribution and Supply Chain functions to drive improvements within the value-stream.  Work closely with production supervisors, team leads, and production employees to perform problem solving and root cause analysis.

Determine root cause of failure using statistical methods that may result in changes in design, tolerances, or processing methods.  Assist in evaluating capital equipment investments and assists in preparing cost justifications.  Assist with the design, procurement, and startup of capital equipment projects.

Identify and implement solutions for issues relating to safety, quality, productivity, cost, and delivery.
