Mechanical Engineer

Mechanical Engineer
 

The Armor Group in Mason, OH is currently looking for entry level Mechanical Engineers to work in a fulltime capacity. In this role you will work with experienced engineers on the various products that we design and manufacture. In this role you will be responsible for many of the initial CAD design functions and get to see the design go through formal reviews and ultimately be built on the shop floor. We are seeking candidates with a strong mechanical aptitude that have an understanding and interest in how things go from a design to a finished product.  The products that we design include large industrial washers, process mixers, generator enclosures, custom contract products and large medical mobile units. We predominately use Inventor for 3D design and AutoCAD for 2D. 

Responsibilities include:
·        Designing basic level work
·        Designing for any of our product lines
·        Generating assembly drawings
·        Generating accurate Bills of Materials
·        Working with structural steel, insulation panels, duct work, sheet metal, piping, etc.
·        Adhering to engineering processes and procedures
·        Additional items as assigned by manager

PRINCIPAL CONTACTS INSIDE/OUTSIDE THE COMPANY
This position will primarily be communicating with other Engineers, Buyers, Estimators, Manufacturing personnel, Vendors, and Service Technicians. They will also be communicating with customers occasionally.
 
COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS
·        AutoCAD experience
·        Limited use and/or application of technical principles, theories, and concepts
·        Develops solutions to routine/basic technical problems
·        Works closely with supervisors or experienced engineers, given direction frequently
·        Design and engineering of custom fabricated sheet metal equipment, assemblies, and products
·        Performing accurate calculations to determine sizing of all required mechanical materials
·        Reading/interpreting complex mechanical drawings and with understanding of electrical drawings
·        Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
·        Ability to get along with a variety of personalities and individuals
·        Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines
·        Experience with the design of all types of sheet metal in a manufacturing environment
·        Ability to work inside a budget
·        Metal Fabrication experience is preferred
·        Experience working in an ISO Certified company is preferred
·        Ability to read and interpret drawings

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
·        Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required
·        0 to 2 years of Engineering experience

EQUIPMENT USED
This position will use a computer with Microsoft Office, copier, phone, engineering measurement tools, MRP system, AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D.
 
WORKING AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
This position will work primarily in an office setting with time spent on the manufacturing floor. This position might also have to travel occasionally.
